I tried your suggestions up to removing applications to find a potential culprit. Painter still crashes, so it must be some application causing this.

After this much time and use with this Mac, I do need to go through and clean up this computer, but starting up a new company, I just don't have the time. I can save them as tiffs and view them in Photoshop. Again, thanks for your time. I will try to come back to this post with an update if any of this changes. Just to follow up— I did remove that Sophos with the uninstaller, restarted the Mac, but Painter still crashes. It was worth a try. Well it is still got to remove 3rd party anti-malware products, even if it is not helping with Corel. Aug 6, AM in response to postitnote. Hi, long time later but I have exactly the same problem, Postitnote, and wondering if you ever found a solution? My mac is set up with an SSD with the boot system on it and the main user account on another volume. I think this is the issue as the alternative User account is on the SSD.

I have tried Symlinks, changing permissions, trashing various plists but no joy. I am baffled that the thing works on an alternative User account but not the main one.

Also more than a little astounded at Corel's lack of support for a product that won't launch. Aug 17, AM in response to postitnote. I am having this issue too! Let me know, thanks! Aug 17, PM in response to NativeAlien. Hi, No I haven't but still have an open case with Corel.

Perhaps contact them too so they get there is an issue that many people have. Most of their suggestions so far have been doing what I have already done - make symlinks, check in the terminal that your User folder is the one also listed in Users and Groups in the system folder, rebuild permissions and so on.

The thing does work for me if launched while logged on as my backup User folder which is on the boot drive. My main User folder on another volume. So it looks like there is something preventing the main user accessing something on the boot drive. All the solutions should have fixed this though and it has never occurred with any other software I have installed.

I have been asking for a list of files and locations the software installs so I can check but they haven't been forthcoming. Bad installer is my guess. If I find out anything I will post, please do the same if you can.
